Evolution and holiness : sociobiology, altruism, and the quest for Wesleyan perfection / Matthew Nelson Hill ; foreword by Darrel R. Falk. - 247 pages ; 23 cm. - Strategic initiatives in evangelical theology. .

Includes bibliographical references and index.

Explores the dialogue between evolutionary biology and Christian theology by examining sociobiological explanations of altruism in light of Wesleyan concepts of holiness and sanctification. The author contends that evolutionary theory offers valuable insights into human moral behavior but cannot fully explain self-giving love and moral transformation. Drawing on John Wesley’s doctrine of Christian perfection, the book argues that divine grace and intentional spiritual formation enable humans to transcend biological self-interest.
