The Iron Bishop is the story of a man born in colonial Kenya who vividly narrates his life's story and deeply explores the intrigues of being a freedom fighter's at a time when hostility was rife between the Mau Mau movement and the colonial administration factions.
Bishop Peter Njenga Karioki is a retired clergyman who has served in the Anglican Church of Kenya in a career spanning over four decades.
he also delves deep into the history of the church in Kenya and weaves a clear tapestry from the arrival of the missionaries to their evangelization efforts and how they contributed to modern Kenya.
Bishop Emeritus Peter Njenga graphically describes his life as that of a man often caught in limbo during many seasons of his life such as when he encountered Christ and joined the church, an act viewed as a betrayal while dealing with the pain caused during the state of emergency and being misunderstood and ostraciced by those closest to him.
