One principle upon which lawyers in underdeveloped countries, particularly in Africa, differ with their comrades in the developed countries is that of the independence of the Bar. Lawyers in the developed world, and in organizations like international Bar Association, have attempted to impress upon the Bar Associations of the underdeveloped world the necessity of rising above the day to day politics of their societies ad avoiding the rough and tumble of political agitation.
